- Your local composting adviser
Kitty Russell
Hey, I'm Kitty, your local Waste Reduction Adviser. I am around throughout the year to provide support and guidance on Home Composting, our Love Food Hate Waste campaign and WEEE (Waste of Electronic and Electrical Equipment). I am a keen composter myself and have had an interest in it from a young age. My parents had an allotment in North London, where we spent many days helping dad...or not as the case may be! Composting is not only a fantastic way of preventing recyclable waste being sent to landfills, but is also an easy and fun way to look after your garden.
As for food waste, I always thought I was very good at not wasting food. It wasn't until I started work on the Love Food Hate Waste campaign that I truly realised just how much I did throw away. By completing the Food Diary on www.lovefoodhatewaste.com website I was shocked at the amount that we throw away in our house. It's definitely worth doing. If you don't fancy doing the diary, just check out the website for any tips, recipe ideas and general advice on food waste, using up leftovers, storage and portion control.
I will be attending events in your area and many others over the coming year so please check my events diary below and come and see me with any questions relating to Home Composting, Love Food Hate Waste or small WEEE (toasters, drills, kettles, hair-dryers, mobile phones etc).
