Greener gardens in the South West!
I am regularly seen tootling around these Counties (my compost-mobile is hard to miss!)…enthusing and encouraging all kinds of people to become or remain interested in composting. Whether you want to learn more about creating healthy soil (for growing healthy plants) or are concerned about your environmental impact; I am happy to tackle your questions or inspire you with ideas to improve your composting set up…no matter how bizarre they may seem!
Events I'm attending
If you would like to view the bins before buying, it's worth getting in touch with your local authority, as many of them will also have displays at their offices.
Come rain...or shine...and maybe the odd shiver...
...we will persevere! Despite the lower temperatures we are still 'out and about' (all be it mostly indoors!) with plenty to inspire you. Come and share your composting tales; be they enthusiastic, curious or simply quite proud, it is always most enjoyable to hear about your experiences.
"But what happens in the meantime?" I hear you say! Well, the end of winter and the sight of spring provides the perfect opportunity to get yourself and your composting repertoire geared up for the seasons ahead. Take stock of your set up and make sure you have sufficient bins or heaps and a suitable collection bucket; to accommodate the amount of compostable material you're likely to produce in the coming months. Buy in or build any extra additions, investigate the contents of your bins (go on, be brave) and empty out any compost worth using. Spreading this on your beds now, will offer a little extra insulation as the occasional frost sets in.
There are plenty of ongoing opportunities to obtain direct advice and information on composting, to prepare you for the year ahead. You have obviously found the website - a great way of keeping in touch with all the latest developments - feel free to use the helpline (0845 600 0323) as another accessible source of advice. Do keep your eyes peeled for our displays and doings...help us highlight the profile and promote the benefits of composting, by getting involved and doing your bit to encourage others...
