How long have you been composting?

Twenty years now.

What made you start composting?

We had large quantities of garden waste to dispose of, so recycling it seemed a good idea!

How did you find out how to get started and what to do?

I had some great expert advice from my father-in-law.

Did you find it easy to get started? Or did you have any problems at first?

No, I found it very easy. No problems at all.

Do you regularly put in kitchen waste as well as garden waste? If so, do you use a kitchen caddy?

I keep a kitchen caddy in my kitchen and put in my kitchen waste everyday.

Is your compost bin doing well now?

Very well, I'm really pleased with it.

How long was it before you were able to use your compost?

Four to six months.

Are you pleased with the results in your garden by using your own compost? Any examples?

Yes I'm very pleased. The roses and vegetables have done particularly well. I dig the compost back into the garden regularly.

Do you compost throughout the year?

Yes, it's worth doing it all year round.

Finally, do you have any tips to give people about composting, which you've found useful?

Have three bins, then you can mix the type of vegetation you are composting. And keep at it, you'll see a great difference in your garden using compost.
