Building a green 2012 Olympics
08 August 2008
Around 90% of all waste created from the construction of the 2012 London Olympic Park will be recovered and reused or recycled, the Olympic Development Agency has announced. Officials claim the figure is unprecedented for a project of this size.
Olympic developers are also focusing on using the River Thames to transfer waste to external facilities which can better handle more hazardous or complex materials for recycling. London 2012 organisers say that the environmental commitments they have made show that the London Olympics will be a sustainable and environmentally friendly event.
