Soft drinks company encourages increased recycling
Coca-Cola U.K. and the Climate Trust have performed lifecycle assessments on three of the company’s drinks to study the amount of emissions each generates. The analysis breaks down each component of the product including the products' ingredients, manufacture, packaging, distribution, use and disposal.
The results showed that boosting the recycled content of the packaging and recycling the empty cans significantly reduces the overall carbon footprint by as much as 60 per cent.
In response to the findings, the company is introducing a series of Recycle Zones across the country to help people to dispose of their old soft drinks cans.
