Children devise litter-busting idea for fast food outlets
15 August 2008
Pupils at a school in Doncaster have won a competition to design a system to persuade people not to drop litter outside fast food restaurants, and to help customers and staff to separate waste for recycling.
The winning team, ‘Green Peace Girls,’ made up of five Year Six pupils from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Rossington, were judged by members of the local business community, who assessed the practicality, creativity, impact and effectiveness of the prototypes.
The team devised a colour coded bin to help people know which bin to put their waste in, and to help them avoid putting recyclable materials into general waste.
