New kerbside recycling scheme to collect aluminium foil and trays
Fenland Council is aiming to divert over 40 tonnes of aluminium-based waste from landfill now that it has introduced kerbside recycling for clean aluminium foil and aluminium quiche, pie and tart trays.
Local residents have already succeeded in recycling or composting an extra 180 tonnes of household waste between April and June this year compared to last year. The improvement is partly due to the increasing popularity of kitchen caddies, designed to be used on a kitchen work surface to encourage composting.
