Food recycling scheme to be extended
05 September 2008
A trial scheme for food waste to be recycled into compost has been extended until 2010 following positive feedback from local residents.
The scheme, which is run by Broadland District Council, allows residents to put food waste in a separate bin which is collected weekly and taken to a facility in Brundall where it is turned into compost.
The council is currently collecting 10 tonnes of food waste a week from around 6,000 households.
