Give your fridge a second life...in Africa!

A North-East company which recycles low-cost fridge components to send to Africa is struggling to keep up with demand.

Cooler Recycling Solutions, based in Northumberland, is looking to double its workforce in the next two years as more and more compressors, condensers and fans are shipped to Ghana to keep schools, hospitals and offices cool. The components would usually cost hundreds of pounds new, but by refurbishing old fridge parts destined for the scrap yard, the company is providing an affordable product to a country that is in great need of cooling equipment.

The company hopes to expand abroad in the coming years to Scandinavia, Germany and the rest of Europe. 

Several manufacturers have given their backing to the company in its efforts.
