Glass act in record race to recycle beer bottles
29 June 2008
Designers, glassblowers, brewers and retailers in Liverpool joined forces for a world record-breaking challenge as part of Design Show Liverpool. Fast Glass aimed to design, produce and retail a recycled glass item in just 24 hours.
Hundreds of beer bottles were fed into an open air furnace to create the molten glass and then blown into a piece of artwork by expert glassmakers. The finished product was due to go on sale in John Lewis’s Liverpool One store the following morning.
