Last year’s top fashions can become this year’s top recycling
15 August 2008
A scheme launched by Oxfam and Marks and Spencer to encourage people to recycle their clothes in charity shops has raised more than one million pounds.
Gift vouchers are handed out when reused Marks and Spencer’s clothes are donated to any Oxfam store. It comes as part of a project to reduce the estimated one million tonnes of clothes sent to landfill each year in the UK, and those involved claim that the scheme has cut a thousand tonnes from landfill in the past six months.
