Live plastic free for a month

A BBC journalist is to attempt to live plastic-free for an entire month to find out how practical it is for the average person to cut out plastic products from their day to day life.

Cling film, fruit punnets, drinks bottles, wine with plastic corks and even disposable nappies will be banned from Christine Jeavans’ home to see if she can live like those in the 1950s, who used less than 5% of the amount of plastic used globally today. She audited her monthly plastic waste, and found she used a staggering 603 products, ranging from plastic bags to toothbrushes.
