People "too reliant on councils" to recycle
05 September 2008
Survey shows householders send recyclable waste to landfill because they rely on local government schemes to take the initiative.
According to research by Zurich, the survey showed that a quarter of people are aware they throw away recyclable items but believe travelling to a recycling centre is too much trouble.
One in eight people said it is too much trouble to wash out containers and one in ten believed having to sort their waste is inconvenient. More than 2,000 adults over 16 in the UK were interviewed for the survey.
