Ready to rock, roll and recycle
25 July 2008
Environmentally friendly music festival, Latitude, has come up with ways to counteract the ecological headache of nearly 30,000 revellers.
The festival organisers handed out 'Camper's Waste Kits' to all attendees, including a compost bag for food scraps, a clear plastic bag for recyclables such as plastic bottles, cans and cardboard; and a black bin bag for other rubbish.
The festival also deployed an army of on-site 'green messengers', serving beer in re-useable cups, running car-share and cycling schemes for people travelling to the event and even runs its offices off renewable power. The event also boasted the world's first fuel-cell-powered festival stage.
