Company champions its own recycling success to consumers.
The Co-op has announced it is taking steps to reduce waste both internally and in terms of packaging passed on to customers. The company is increasing re-use and recycling rates; improving the degradability and biodegradability of waste and funding more sustainable waste management options.
The Co-operative already runs the most widely available customer mobile phone recycling scheme in the UK and customers have raised more than £260,000 for Oxfam by recycling old mobile phones and inkjet cartridges.
The company is hoping the example it sets will encourage customers to take up similar habits.
