Scouts introduce recycling badge

23 March 2009

Badge to be awarded to best recyclers.

The Scouts have launched a new environment badge which they hope will encourage 400,000 young people to recycle.

The badge will teach youngsters what can be recycled, and what happens to the materials such as glass and paper through the recycling process.

It will be offered to Scouts of all ages and highlights the impact of rubbish and litter on a community, the Scout Association said.

The scheme has been launched in partnership with services company Serco Local Government.
