Trading standards to advise on packaging waste

Officers to begin offering advice to local businesses to prevent them from creating too much waste.
This new service will begin this autumn in Lincolnshire. Gary Seymour, assistant head of trading standards at Lincolnshire County Council, has explained that the initiative will also look at business sectors where excess packaging is a “more significant” problem, such as computer software and DIY.
The drive aims to improve communication between trading standards officers and businesses, to help businesses comply with the Packaging (Essential Requirements) Regulations.
