Recycler - Helping the world recycle
Help your family to recycle at home
Lots of the things you use every day at home can be recycled when you've finished with them - like old magazines and comics, empty food tins and plastic shampoo bottles.
If you don't know where your recycling bin is, ask a grown up at home to show you. If you're not sure what to put in your recycling bin, you can ask a grown up to help you use the postcode locator.
Remember to recycle at school too
Don't forget that lots of the things you use at school can be recycled too.
Next time you've finished with a piece of paper, or it's time to clear some space on your classroom wall by taking down your old artwork, remember to check where the nearest recycling bin is.
Even electronic things can be recycled
Did you know that anything with batteries or a plug can be recycled? That includes old electronic toys, mobile phones and cameras.
These things need to be taken to special recycling drop off points - ask your teacher or parent for help in finding the nearest one to you.
Remember to always ask a grown up before you recycle these items.
Don't throw out your old books and toys
If you have old books that you don't read any more or some toys that you've grown out of, why not give them to a charity shop? It will help raise money for a good cause and give someone else the chance to enjoy them.
Perk up your packed lunch
Loved last night's supper? If there's any left over, why not ask the grown ups at home if you can take it for lunch the next day, instead of throwing it out? Be sure to use an air-tight container so you don't spill any in your school bag.
Turn leftover food into perfect pizzas
A great way to use up leftover food, instead of throwing it away, is to make your own pizza. Ask a grown up at home to help you with the pizza-base, and then get super creative by making patterns, pictures, shapes and smiley faces with whatever you find in the fridge.
If the grown ups need any more ideas, they can visit the Love Food Hate Waste website to get lots of tips and recipes!
