The materials support Eco-Schools, Every Child Matters outcomes and the National Framework for Sustainable Schools.
Sustainable Schools
The government wants all schools to be sustainable schools by 2020 and in 2006 launched a National Framework that sets out the government’s aspirations.
The materials help you to support the following ‘doorways’ of the National Framework for Sustainable Schools.

Using the materials to support Eco-Schools
Eco-Schools is an international award programme that guides schools on their sustainable journey, providing a framework to help embed sustainable principles into the heart of school life.
The materials, and the Project in particular, can feed into your Eco-Schools Action Plan and help you to address Eco-School topics of Litter, Waste and Global Perspectives.
Every Child Matters
The materials can also help you to deliver a range of Every Child Matters outcomes. As they participate in lessons, develop their understanding of recycling and use important personal and workplace skills, students can:
Enjoy and achieve by developing lifelong skills and by understanding the positive contribution they will make to the local and global environment
Make a positive contribution by taking action to recycle more, and encourage others, in school, at home and in their wider community
Achieve economic wellbeing by developing their Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills and working together in ways that will enhance their workplace skills.
