Terms and Conditions

  • This competition is only open to teachers residents in the UK, Channel Islands Isle of Man and Republic of Ireland aged 18 years or over except employees of WRAP or anyone else professionally associated with this competition.
  • All information detailing how to enter forms part of these terms and conditions. It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and that the competitor agrees to abide by these rules.
  • Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  • Entrants must clearly state in the subject line of their email, which category they wish to be entered for. All entries must be received by 9:00 a.m. on Friday 19th March 2010 and entry is not restricted to one per person.
  • To participate in this competition, entrants must write a composting-themed lesson plan aimed at KS1 & KS2 level students (delivering the aims of the National Curriculum for England) and submit the lesson plan in word document format.
  • Entries must be the work of the individual submitting them and must not have been published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other competition. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that no element of their entry infringes the copyright of any third party or any laws.
  • Entries will be judged on criteria as described within the competition’s criteria guidelines.
  • WRAP reserves the right to not select any winner/s if entries are not of the requisite standard.
  • In the event the that judges decide that entries are not of the required standard those entries will not under any circumstances be used or featured by WRAP at any time.
  • The judging panel will be comprised of representatives approved by WRAP. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence shall be entered into regarding the marking, critique or merits of individual entries or winners. But we welcome feedback on the competition in general. 
  • Copyright in all submissions to the competition remains with the respective entrants. However, in consideration of their providing the Competition, each entrant grants a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual license to WRAP to feature any or all of the submissions in any of its publications, its websites and/or in any promotional material connected to this competition.
  • Late, illegible, incomplete or defaced entries will not be accepted.
  • Entries must be in English.
  • No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries and proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties.
  • Entries must be submitted by email.
  • Receipt will not be acknowledged.
  • There will be a maximum of six winning lesson plans. Winners will be notified by email.
  • The winning entrants shall win £500 for themselves and £500 for their school to be awarded by cheque.
  • The winners will be requested to participate in publicity.
  • The winners’ names and counties and the names of the judges can be obtained by sending a sae to: WRAP, The Old Academy, 21 Horse Fair, Banbury, OX16 0AH. 
  • Events may occur that render the competition itself or the awarding of the prizes impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the Promoter and accordingly the Promoter may at its absolute discretion vary or amend the promotion and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to the Promoter as a result thereof.
  • WRAP is responsible for the publication and adjudication of this competition.
  • English law applies and the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts shall prevail.
