Top tips - more things you can do

  1. Reseal it!

Re-sealable boxes are great for packed lunches and food storage. Plastic takeaway food containers, ice cream tubs, biscuit boxes and jam jars are good food containers.

  2. Clear it out

Donate good quality clothing, books and unwanted gifts to charity shops.  Alternatively use the clothing banks at your local recycling centre.

  3. Recharge it!

Rechargeable batteries are the way to go - not only are they cheaper than disposables and cost just 1p to charge; they create less waste as they can be used again and again.

  4. Keep it real

Instead of using disposable plates and cutlery for your parties, add a touch of sophistication with real crockery and cutlery.

  5. Bag for life

Choose reusable shopping bags and keep them in the car boot so you remember to take them to the shops.  By keeping a cotton bag folded up in your handbag or coat pocket too, you'll always have a bag when you need one.
