Recycling in Eden

Enjoy an amazing eco-day out at Eden

Want a change of environment?

Eden bulb mania 2006Why not head for a day out at one of the UK's growing number of visitor-friendly eco-centres?

Giving a new perspective on recycling and other environmental issues, they are inspiring visitors by the million – firing people's imaginations and getting them to take a fresh look at their lifestyles.

Perhaps the best example is Cornwall's incredible Eden Project which over 5,000,000 visitors have already enjoyed. The world's biggest greenhouse, it opened three years ago and is an ideal place to learn more about recycling. In fact, a new facility is being built to show how waste can be turned into things that are not just useful but beautiful as well.

Committed to practising what it preaches, the Eden Project aims to:

  • Eden project, CornwallCut the waste it produces by a massive 60%.
  • Achieve a 'Waste Neutral' situation with the other 40% – this will involve buying an amount of recycled products equivalent to the amount of material it sends for disposal or recycling.

"This is a fantastic place to learn more about every aspect of the environment," says Tobin Thayre, the Project’s Waste Neutral/Recycling Manager, "and that includes what we currently throw away and how we could deal with it differently."

Definitely a day out that hasn’t been wasted, visit the Eden Project.
