Garden Waste Fact File
Two hands holding green garden waste including grass cuttings

Garden waste covers pretty much anything that falls, dies or that you cut down in your garden.

  • Grass is probably the most obvious type of garden waste and is incredibly easy to recycle in the garden, however it is the most bulky;
  • Cuttings are everything in your garden that can be pruned, from rose bushes to dead flowers - all of which can be put to good use;
  • Leaves can be left where they fall, but you can also turn them into nutritious mould for your flowerbeds; and
  • Small, thinner branches can be reused in the garden or recycled.
