In the UK up to 25% of the can is made up of recycled steel but steel manufactured in Europe contains 54% recycled steel.1
The big advantage of steel is that it is 100% recyclable and can be reprocessed again and again with no loss of quality. We just need to recycle more of it – for example, food cans are often forgotten because they need to be cleaned before recycling, but rinse them before the residue has chance to dry out and they take much less effort!
